The azienda Agrituristica ‘Il Glicine’ (one of the very first in Sicily, authorized by the Region with the number 6!) opened its doors to guests in the early 1990s. Since then, it has continued this activity, together with the cultivation of the land using biological methods. This allows for the availability of healthy products (for the guests and for ourselves!) – vegetables, fresh and dried fruits, extra-virgin olive oil, eggs etc...
The two cottages available for tourists, are recently renovated to welcome two adult guests each, with spacious bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen and sleeping areas, verandas and barbecues for picnics. They are open to splendid views across the valley towards the Mountain of Marzo and Lago d’Olivo.
On a visit to ‘Il Glicine’, guests will discover the silence and quality of this part of Sicily, where a green swimming pool is discretely set amongst the trees, and where the company of dogs and cats, the cries of ducks and chickens, and the possibility of long walks with views of the Sicilian interior and the colourful sunsets, characterize the area.
The Roman Villa of Casale, the excavations of the Greek city of Morgantina, the Archaeological Museum of Aidone, the ceramics of nearby Caltagirone, the ancient buildings of Enna, are only some of the interesting places nearby, all easily arrived at and well worth visiting. Mount Etna, Siracusa and the Val di Noto, the temples of Agrigento, are less than a couple of hours away, and easily valid for day excursions. A day in Palermo is only a bus-ride away and it’s easier to leave the car here rather than struggle with chaotic traffic.
A word or two to present ourselves: Yvonne is a painter and ex- Art Teacher, born in England, who came to Sicily for a holiday, in the early 70s, and since then has never left. Santi, after graduating in Law, has turned to the hard working life of a farmer, and has never changed his mind.
